In this lesson, we’ll cover habit formation formula 2 of 4: Habit Stacking
LESSON SUMMARY
💡 Habit stacking is when you identify a current habit you’ve already established and then stack your new behavior on top of it. The habit stacking formula looks like this:
After CURRENT HABIT, I will NEW HABIT.
Some examples:
💡 Habit stacking for building the habit of showing gratitude to your spouse or partner:
“After I get into bed each evening, I will tell my partner one thing about him/her that I’m grateful for.“
💡 Habit stacking to develop a daily planning habit:
“While I wait for my morning coffee to brew, I will write down my three most important goals for the day.”
💡 You can utilize habit stacking for virtually any habit you’re working to develop. Just keep in mind that the key to habit stacking is to tie your desired habit/behavior to something you’re already doing on a daily basis.
