Last week, my son Rumi turned three.
It feels like just yesterday he could barely say, “dada.”
Now, three years later, he’s yelling “Thank you so much” to the DoorDash driver and ripping open Amazon packages to see if there’s anything in there for him.
He’s curious about everything.
Watching my little guy grow and learn got me thinking—how wonderful it must be to live the toddler life.
Rumi’s life is beautifully simple: Eat, play, sleep.
Those are his top three priorities each day.
He’s not worried about paying bills or being productive.
In fact, he doesn’t worry about anything at all.
He handles his top 3 “priorities” each day, and then he’s done.
As long as he eats, plays, and sleeps – he’s won the day.
There’s a powerful productivity lesson we can learn from toddlers like Rumi; a lesson of simplicity.
I call it the “Big 3”.
Here’s how it works:
Each morning, pick your 3 most important tasks for the day and write them down on a small index card.
These three items are your Big 3.
When you finish these 3 tasks before lunch, you WIN the day.
Anything else you finish after that is just icing on the cake.
Simple, but effective.
Using the “Big 3” method will give you laser-sharp focus.
How do I know? Because it’s simple.
And in an increasingly complex world, sometimes it’s the simple solutions that yield the greatest results. Use it, and you’ll be blown away by how much more you can get done.
